The Russian Revolution, Imperialism and the Current Crisis

A Special Lecture with Vijay Prashad, Professor of International Studies, Trinity College (Hartford, USA)
One hundred years after the Russian Revolution - and thirty years after the fall of the USSR - the question before us in these times of perpetual capitalist chaos is what is the alternative? Are we fated to linger in this endless present or is there the possibility of a future that is beyond this dangerous chaos? This 'chaos' is only so for the working people of the planet. It is beneficial for those who benefit from it, those who have their fingers on pulse of digital money and dangerous bombs. Where is our global salvation from imperialism? That is the central question of this presentation.
Vijay Prashad is the Chief Editor of LeftWord Books (New Delhi) and the Director of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research. He is a journalist and a historian, having written twenty books and edited many more, including - most recently - Red October: The Russian Revolution and the Communist Horizon (LeftWord, 2017).
