The Digitisation Assistant will work with visual archives at the MML – primarily the poster and photograph collections – using the Library’s scanning and photography equipment. They will be responsible for creating digital images for preservation, publication and web use and for ensuring information on the image files – meta-data – is appropriately gathered and recorded. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working in the heritage sector with unique archive collections. The Digitisation Assistant will receive training and work as part of a friendly dynamic team alongside other volunteers and under the supervision of the Archivist & Library Manager
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Using flat-bed scanner and photography table, create image files of MML’s photos and posters
• Name files according to house-style
• Carry out image editing where appropriate
• Add to listings of collections, including cross-referencing image numbers
• Add images to online archive galleries on the MML website
Personal Specification
Essential:
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good IT skills

• Experience working with scanners and image editing software
