Back to topThe Marx Memorial Library's constitution states that 'The sole and exclusive object of the Library shall be the advancement of education, learning and knowledge by the provision, acquisition and maintenance of a library of books, periodicals, manuscripts, artefacts, electronic material and other media relating to all aspects of the science of Marxism and the history of Socialism and the trade union and working-class movements.'
Vision
A leading centre for the study of Marxism and socialist history, promoting research, education and broad engagement with revolutionary ideas to inspire the interpretation and transformation of today's world.
Strategic Goals
Collections: Develop, maintain and provide provide a unique research resource in the form of our library and archive.
Education: Deliver a relevant, engaging education programme on and off-site in the form of classes, lectures and workshops to greater numbers and diverse audiences.
Engagement & Outreach: Broaden and diversify audiences engaging with our collections and education work through an inclusive and creative approach to communications, online initiatives, partnership work, our volunteer, publications, exhibition and events programmes.
Resilience & Sustainability: Develop strong governance, staffing, volunteer and finance frameworks – with an environmentally sustainable approach - to ensure the MML’s mission is achievable in the long-term.
The Building: Redevelop Marx House to transform MML’s ability to store collections, enable access, host events and activities and generate income
